3D-Coat 3.7 updates thread

I'm not sure if somewhere on this forum this has been addressed in depth,..but I just wanted tor raise the question briefly,...Will there be any significant update to the 'live clay' tools before 4.0 ships? I feel like there is a ton of potential with these, I find myself wanted to use them all the time (just get that extra level of detail), but find them somewhat unreliable (crashing or otherwise corrupting my mesh) and they lack the feel of the vox and surface sculpting tools...I'm sure its been mentioned before, but I would really like to see these tools refined,..I read in another thread of the possibility of voxel based live clay tools (in vox mode)...not sure how thats possible, but of course it would change the whole game....

thanks,

-Josh

Raul, the main LC programmer came back from Cuba at the first of September to work on LiveClay. There will be a lot of improvements and stability work done for LC before Version 4 is released.

I think Andrew might have forgot to mention here that he fixed a critical bug problem with file saving/ incremental saving causing incorrect file size saves...

He uploaded a new windows version.

3.7.18H

Johnnycore also posted a Mantis bug report...

"In this build there will be possibility to navigate with arrow keys, ALT+arrows and NUM + -. In may cases it is convenient. Just choose navi scheme "3D-Coat_Arrows"

The navigation file was not included in the current Linux version 3.7.18F.

Andrew provided the file. Unzip to your 3DCoat (NavigationPresets) folder

Mantis bug report:

http://3d-coat.com/m...view.php?id=678

There is a link to download the file in the bug report.

or download the zip file, I uploaded.

Mac build updated to 3.7.18F. Well known problem for mountain lion solved there.

I saw it, downloaded it, upgraded the lab (during class, which I never do), and wept (yes wept) with JOY to see brush and depth previews shrink and grow with the right mouse button. I greeted the grid like a long lost friend. I cheered when I saw the brushes tool working like always in the Retopo room.

My class thought I had gone crazy.

But, this does highlight an important point: When bugs crop up (and I really think Mountain Lion was and is the problem), I don't panic because I know that we have our "Top Man" on the problem. And it will get fixed sooner rather than later! Thanks Andrew!

Excelsior!

Is there a way to expose the mesh of the sculpt while working without pressing the "w" key? or is there a shader available which highlights the wire frame, I mean something better than the LambLight_depth shader.

To highlights the wire frame shaders, technique shader compiled with pixel shader4.0 or above will help to make that.

also Normalmap or RGB colormap like Depthmap(DepthSampler) in HLSL/GLSL code will very helpfull.

Andrew,please enable these?

P.S. I'm now making a ToonShader for 3DCoat.As to Normalmap or RGB colormap , that's very helpfull for improve toonshader too.

here's beta version of the my toonshader.

Just letting you know that the link to the Windows 32-bit non-CUDA download still points to version 3.7.18F. Not 3.7.18H.

Same with the Windows 64-bit CUDA. File name is 3d-Coat-V37-18H-CUDA64.exe but the title bar and "About" say 18F.

Please post such nice things into the "3D Coat Exchange Library" subforum. This is the wrong place.

Thank you

Hey !!

I'm testing retopo room on Fedora, and have problem with randomly moving vertices. For example i want to create seams, and after few clicks i find that 2-3 random vertices are moved. Sometimes just a little bit, other times moved far away. I'm using 3D-Coat 3.7.18F. Annoying bug. Need to test on Windows.

Anybody can confirm that?

I can confirm that. It seems to happen as you are doing any hold-click + ctrl, shift or alt action, even while navigating.

When 3d coat needs some milliseconds to compute after releasing the buttons it happens. I fyou keep holding ctrl, shift, alt some time longer after releasing mouse it doesn´t happen.
