A bit early but this made for a funny challenge of sc forum. (santa was an alien lol)
Made in ~ 5 hours. Santa face in sc, basic instance of creature in Sc, multiplied and remeshed under zbrush. Background construction and rendering under 3dcoat. Figure rendered in zb-BPR, combined and PostPro in Ps.

Hello earth people,
Santa Claus is coming to town, ding dong...
(I know... it wasn't cocacola that stabilized this sweet christmas figure of St Nicolas)

Before the 1931 introduction of the Coca-Cola Santa Claus created by artist Haddon Sundblom, the image of Santa ranged from big to small and fat to tall. Santa even appeared as an elf and looked a bit spooky

From the official site of cocacola
But reading this interesting article: http://www.snopes.co...ta/cocacola.asp
?
There're parallel universes allright, or better... they live!

St Nicolas and Christmas don't need rescuing, humanity desperately needs to look into its soul and find the strength. These days, more than ever.
BTW from a greek orthodox perspective:
St Nicolas is the St of seamen, in byzantine portraiture, he stands on see water, carries a boat. Indeed in lot of greek islands they use to decorate boat models instead of trees (not many trees on greek islands LOL)
St Basil of Caesaeria (the great) was sharing pies and money to the poor, so, in modern Greece, we call this cute red figure of santa St Basil and traditionally we're cooking sweet pies for the new year. (StBasil's Pies)
How many civilizations we count on this? Tell me.
I count folk stories with elves, Luther's tree, St Nicolas, St Basil, seamen and boats, travelers, english sweet pies, Istanbul pies, merchants, cocacola, but most of all, the warmth of these days :drinks:

Thanks Taros.
A funny challenge thread of sculptris forum. Lot of fun. Exactly what I miss these days.
Why don't we start something similar in our forum? Something funny.

You're right Michalis,

I think that would be fun, and a good way for the community to learn and share workflow ideas. Perhaps a Sculpt challenges thread where different challenges could be added.

I would be interested.

A Christmas challenge sounds like a good idea. I think it should go in a Challenges thread in the main Forum page.

Thank you JimB, gbball, chris_solo, PalSan.
I started another one, in Sculptris, not a santa of course, just doodling. Sculptris isn't fast after braking symmetry, even at ~700 k. But 3dcoat is. Imported without voxelizing, LC mode, no stretching ~1.5 M now. + a lot of vox for background.
A two passes 3dc render, I needed some lighting effects on background via Ps.
I may keep this method, sculptris tools are great, move tool surfmode, creese LC are even greater LOL.
A question to Andrew though. Why we can't import-drop a mesh directly in MV mode for painting? As in zbrush, before retopo and UVs. I can't understand it. Very useful for conceptual-illustrating art.
Like directly painting on voxels-surf mode.

First attempt using experimental build of cycles/blender. New volume shader, a kind of sss or even better? We'll see.
All hard retopo job and some painting fixes in 3dc of course.
