Hello Andrew: Three really important wishes for my daily work:
1. Please let locked objects unfreeze too, when clicking CTRL+D or use the menu point. Currently locked subobjects can be freezed, but not unfreezed...
2. Please show the following icons beneath the "eye"-Symbol in all paint layers:
a) Blue sphere, if there is content in the depth/normalmap channel
b ) Green sphere, if there is content in the color channel
c) (most important) black sphere, id a layer contains specular information.
As long as a layer is empty, then show nothing or transparent/inactive spheres.
This is a thing that is really important for the work. We are working sometimes with (much) more then 10 layers, and if then you must search the layer, where some content is. Frustrating.
3. Get object names, by move mouse over the subobjects.

Regards
Chris

I've send a concept to Andrew for new a depth, color and specular channel organisation. Hope, he will have time to implement it. It is one of my ideas, I planned for a future rework of 3DC GUI... :D

Ability to multi-select layers like you can in Photoshop. If you have many layers and sub-layers, and want to delete a bunch for any reason...right now you have to do so one layer at a time. That is way too tedious.

As for the color indicators beneath each layer, for Color, Depth, and Spec...that would clutter the panel up something awful, I think.

You are right, the same problem Andrew mentioned too. So I prepared a solution concept and sent it to him. It works well, when implemented.

Yes, but there is no guarantee for an implementation. Additionally it is a basic concept and could be optimised of course. But if it would work already like this, it would help a lot.

Sorry, I see, I used the german version... but you should understand it. :)

Short explanation:
- "Three-Balls icon": On click, the channels panel of the current layer opens.
- You see all channels. Channels with content are solid, empty channels are transparent and named "empty".
- You can change the name for the channels, if needed.
- You can change channel visibility.
- AND: Maybe... you can move channels from one layer to another, to organise them. (NO GUARANTEE!!!) ;)

Bump! One thing I've never understood is when I lock an object or material in the paint room, why it gets filled with fill all, when I just want to fill all of the unlocked objects. I've had to manually freeze/unfreeze the objects I want to fill/unfill.

One thing that would help with the layers is grouping like in Photoshop. This would go a long way to organizing your stuff, so that searching isn't as much of a problem. You can then turn on or lock layers by group.

Bump in support.

Is there a mantis request for this?
