Does that mean 3DC will have a booth at GDC?...hey, has a nice ring to it.
It sure does! Unfortunately not this year... This is a top secret project. Black Ops.
I've already said too much...! The men in black are already here... Gotta go!
+1, I second the intrugue Javic ;-) hmmmm cant wait to see the project when its ready
It will never be seen by public eyes. That is all the more I can say on it. Sorry!
Anyway, yep. Tutorials will be flying out the doors and windows when I get back (for a little while anyway). I've got a queue of videos I need to hit. Some really good work flow ones especially. Can't wait to finish and release them.

I have posted up a new video. It covers the topic of using the voxel sculpting tools to generate normal maps on a LOW poly asset for game assets, rendering, etc., with out the need to edit the mesh in any kind of way and only exporting out your texture maps (AO and N maps). Enjoy!

Phil, absolutely! It might be rare, but certainly a useful work flow possibility. I've found myself using them a few times, it's quite good! Especially when you need to try and adhere an organic sculpted look to the normal map on a hard surface object.

Phil & Don,
Yeah, I was pretty "wowed" when I saw the tweet from them this morning. It's great that they have put that up. It was definitely not paid for! I'm glad someone over their likes it.

It's funny you mention the gradient, I had background set to black for a long time no, but just a few weeks ago I had a problem with 3DC and was clearing out my configs to see if that was the issue (unfortunately it wasn't the issue, but it's been fixed since then), and doing so had wiped out the display settings for the gradient and I had never gotten back to turning it off. p
In the first ptex video there is a ton of talk, but it had to be said! It is boring in the beginning, but does pick up the pace eventually.
Javis, I'm taking one of the Ptex videos now -- much talk at the start, but now it's getting more visual! I do wish you'd learn to turn OFF the damn default gradient in the UI, and use a totally FLAT shade: (A) gradients take up more bandwidth and (
the video compression makes the existing gradient flicker and generally look crappy -- it just gives a poorer impression of 3DC than it would have been with a plain, flat viewport background.
