Contributor Malo Posted October 23, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 Hello I know, stupid question, but i have some trouble with that. It is not about the tools that i should use or how they works, it is more the basic understanding on how to do it. Take a look at this They looks always flat and unfinished. I think i have no problem to create the basic shapes. But after that point, i always struggle and cant find a solution. I know i should create some folds and wrinkles but i cant do it. I take a look into some real faces and see where are the wrinkles and folds are. But if i try to find and create the same folds wrinkles on one of my heads, it looks always ugly, not realy realistic or it simply dont fit. At this point i always switch to PPP and use a lot of masks and materials and i try to rescue the flat unfinished head. I think there is much more potential in my charakters as i could do at this time. I am not sure whats going wrong on my side, but it is like, i cant figured out what i see on the references and how to bring the seen things on my models. I see, there are little wrinkles on the eyes on my reference images, but if i try to create that wrinkles on my custom head, it wont works. They look always unrealistic or ugly. I think i need a little advice/help, that point me in the right direction, to learn that things and helps me to get rid of my problems. Would be nice if somebody could helps me. I hope i could explain it correctly. Regards Malo

Contributor Malo Posted October 23, 2013 Author Contributor Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 Not realy. I am not sure if the Left4dead video shows some interesting. I watch it later. The problem is not how LC or Surface mode works, or what tools i should use. It is more the understanding how to do it, if a head is not humanlike like in the current alien challange. Or like Artman says. Of course its all about sculpting skills, even fine details require solid sculpting skills to reach what you see in image above But how did i get that skill, if i dont know where to start? Contributor Malo Posted October 23, 2013 Author Contributor Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 Many Thanks. Did you know some tutorials for free? I am not sure if the two that you mentoined are helpfull for me. Or did you know if the two artist explain exactly why the wrinkles goes on the eye in that way and not in the other or why folds follow that shape of the head and not the other and stuff like that?
