Member Andrei Samardac Posted July 30, 2013 Member Report Share Posted July 30, 2013 (edited) This short tutorial for workflow between MOI 3D and 3D Coat. Moi 3D (http://moi3d.com/) is the greatest Nurbs modeller, irreplaceable tool for hard surfaces. I spend a couple of days trying to understand how to connect 3D coat with MOI. And I got answer. I make high poly model in MOI export it with N-Gons (triangles with quads do not work well for 3D coat). High poly model will be not used for games, animation or subdividing so it can have N-Gons. Then I import this High poly in 3D coat and start retopo, UV and merge. Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 31, 2013 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 31, 2013 Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing that demonstration. If you know the developer of Moi, it might be worth asking him to talk with Andrew or Stas about either an plugin for 3D Coat or some form of development within, to integrate the tools. I think there is some initial interest and exploration going on. I suggested to Stas, to consider MOI in some form. They are considering a separate version of 3D Coat that is tailored for manufactured output and 3D Printing.
Member Andrei Samardac Posted August 2, 2013 Author Member Report Share Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) It wold be great, I think 3D Coat + MOI it is very powerful combo. 3D-Coat for Sculpting, UVs, Retopo, Painting and MOI 3D is the best for Hard Surface, I work now this way and workflow is nice ans easy. One of users already posted link to this thread on MOI 3D forum. So we let Michael (developer of MOI 3D) know about your suggestion. Hope they will collaborate. Some kind of applink will be good.
