Member rengsto Posted February 12, 2015 Member Report Share Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) I want to sculpt the edges of 25 tiles which are separate sub-objects in my OBJ file. It would be great to have an "Import to Separate Volume" function so I can easily hide surrounding tiles and sculpt where I need to. Exporting 25 separate OBJs, then importing 25 separate OBJs is boring and unproductive. "Import to Separate Volume" would be a pleasure. Reputable Contributor digman Posted February 12, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted February 12, 2015 (edited) Deselect "import to separate instances" 3DC menus are context sensitive, Selecting "Import to Separate Instances" hides the correct choice. Now Select "Import as Child" The import will create an empty Parent layer and all the sub-objects will be placed on their own layer. The Import as Child now does the same function as Merge to Separate Volumes. The second picture just shows 3 simple cubes that are sub-objects in the Wings3d obj file. They imported correctly into 3DCoat each on it's own separate layer. Edited February 12, 2015 by digman
