Advanced Member Ratchet Posted January 13, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Hi, Retopoloy on hard surface, to stay fast and precise would need some small additionnal points : - Select tool : Please add ring and edge loops , otherwise we need to use Path tool that is longer to select rings, to be able then to use extrude or transform tools - Extrude tool : Extrude edges along normal only , this would allow to stay precise (we could have mouse horizontal move for amount of extrusion and vertical move for scaling) - New tool : Make planar , select vertices and clicking on it would make them planar along a normal we could choose - New tool : Snap to surface, selecting vertices we could just press a button to have them snapping to the nearest voxel surface (because move tool is not precise and makes big errors when you move a little, specially on complex geometry) It was very long to select rings with path tool each time to be able to use transform tool to scale down vertices of the ring along some axis to make them planar. A new one : Bridge tool , you select edges to bridges than would just click on a button. Thanks. Edited January 13, 2015 by Ratchet
Contributor Malo Posted January 13, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted January 13, 2015 (edited) Edge ring and loop are included. Select on Edge and then klick on Edge Loop or Edge Ring in Commands. Extrude Normals are included. Select some Faces and klick on Normal Extrude in Commands. Snap to Surface is included. Select what you want and klick on Snap in Commands. Yes, a easy ways to make something planar would be nice. At this time you could only try to scale your selected elements in the right direction. Advanced Member Ratchet Posted January 13, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted January 13, 2015 Thanks for the tips, i will try that. (I retopo character, but it's first time i must retopo hard surface and keep perfect planes for good rendering in 3D engine, so i'm discovering these features).
