philnolan3d
These are advertised as being for zbrush but they should work just fine in 3DC too. http://www.michaeldunnam.com/free-stuff.html Download the 3D-Coat PenPacks (Direct download link)

philnolan3d
Just to be clear, it's the Alpha versions. And actually it looks like it may require more than just drag and drop, the PSDs are in a strange format. that crashes 3DC and doesn't even look right in my image viewer, I can load most of them in Photoshop though. Maybe there's some way to automate a conversion to something more normal.

I did a batch convert on all brushes and now I can import them with ease.. would you like me to upload them?
philnolan3d
Well What I'm doing is converting them and creating a 3DC PenPack file for each one. I intend to share the PenPacks with the author when they're finished. I am curious what you used for your batch conversion.
Advanced Member johnnycore Posted April 17, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 In photoshop I created an action which does --> multichannel to rgb image conversion --> save as TGA, I ran this on all files. Now they import with no problem. If you want to use these for the 3DC PenPack I would like to upload them for you.

philnolan3d
Oh OK I did the same thing but just saving them as PSD, that works fine.
Advanced Member johnnycore Posted April 17, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 Ah ok, for some reason I prefer TGA over PSD.. I always use it in my workflow so I got used to converting to TGA..
philnolan3d
Yeah I normally render as TGA but I've been trying to use PSD files lately, it just seems to make sense. Here are the files as 9 Pen Packs (58MB): http://dl.dropbox.co...nam_Brushes.zip
Advanced Member johnnycore Posted April 17, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 And here are the files as .TGA file: https://skydrive.live.com/redir.aspx?cid=cc28f919b28c325b&resid=CC28F919B28C325B!128&parid=root

Advanced Member Polygoon Posted April 17, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 Some of the stroke brush's (carve etc.)may need inverting in PS also, the ones that are white on the outer. I think they are designed to work as inverted tool (Brush)action for Zbrush that has automatic Zsub characteristics. Though they may have a use doing discrete dots. Contributor Tony Nemo Posted April 17, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted April 17, 2012 Thanks guys for the freebies but what about the .abr file type? (there are terrible gaps in my knowledge base!)
philnolan3d
I may be wrong but I think .ABR is a vector format, Might be more difficult to convert these rastered images to vector. BTW He is going to include the .penpack 3DC files on his site.
Javis
And here are the files as .TGA file: https://skydrive.liv...!128&parid=root Thanks! I like TGA myself, too. No "compatibility" issues like with PSD.

Advanced Member Kargall Posted August 3, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 3, 2012 Hi, Please could you tell me where I need to put the Penpack. thank you And thank you for brushes :good:
Javis
Hi Kargall! You can have them on any drive you have access to. To add them, go to the brushes tab, in the top right corner is a small triangle. Click it and you'll have some options, one should say something to the effect of "add folder" or "add existing folder". Use it and it will prompt you with a file requester. Select the folder you have these brushes (or any other brushes for that matter) and hit OK. Now the brushes will show up in another preset of the brushes panel, under the little triangle. Hope that helps!
philnolan3d
A couple of additional ways to add it: Go to File > Install Extension and pick the file or you can also just drag the 3dcpack file into the 3DC window and you'll get a pop up asking if you want to add it to Pens or Strips.
