Advanced Member arumiat Posted August 5, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 5, 2015 Anyone seen this? http://www.autodesk.com/products/stingray/overview The tight integration with Maya & 3DS max will be a big plus, and the render quality looks very nice
Member Speider Posted August 6, 2015 Member Report Share Posted August 6, 2015 (edited) Yeah i have seen it, it does seem nice but i don't like the subscription model tho. But i assume many professional studios will like it. Edited August 6, 2015 by Speider
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 6, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 6, 2015 I don't plan on using it, but from what I saw they are leveraging it to appeal to both the Game Industry and Architecture PreViz industry. Not sure how much they plan to invest in it's development, and with that in question (AD has a distinguished history of abandoning good software), I'd have to take a pass, and stick with UE and Unity. Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 6, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 6, 2015 ...oh, and I forgot to mention AD currently halting Mudbox's development. When it went from $750 to $10/month subscription, you just knew the bottom had fallen out of Mudbox's development. Sure enough, just months ago, when the full line of 2016 AD products were released, Mudbox was practically unmentioned. It received to very minor additions...something you would normally see in just one new 3D Coat build. So, I think AD should tread carefully about introducing new software. Their history to killing their own, shoots a torpedo through the long-term prospects of any new product.

Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 6, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 6, 2015 Crap! I really liked MB.. Do you have a link Abn? Here you go. It's pretty much dead, with that $10/mo and that paltry list of new features. It's really kind of sad, but it's what AD does. http://www.autodesk.com/products/mudbox/features/all/gallery-view
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted August 6, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted August 6, 2015 ...BTW, Maya 2016 has some of Mudbox's brushes and maybe the brush engine, so that might be where AD is headed with MB
