Member wensk Posted February 4, 2015 Member Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 Hi, I'm using 4.5 beta11 create a small test for teapot in 3dsmax and vray 3.0, the test is look for material feeling. The result for metal in 3d-coat is good, but lost metal color in diffuse map after export. How do you think about?
Contributor Malo Posted February 4, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 The metal color is not lost. This is the base of PBR glossy-spec maps. The metal color is stored in the glossy map.

Contributor Malo Posted February 4, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 if you have paintet yor metal with white, then yes, it is white in your glossy, too. Make a little test and paint some copper or gold, export it, and you see what i mean.
Member wensk Posted February 4, 2015 Author Member Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 But they are all default 3d-coat PBR metal material, I havn't adjusted anything for those.
Contributor Malo Posted February 4, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) Did Vray support PBR textures glossy/spec or metal/rough? Edited February 4, 2015 by Malo
Member wensk Posted February 4, 2015 Author Member Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) I think vray support the textures and alpha, then after export the textures and use vray material the result will be same. Yes Vray support glossy and specular etc. And I use orange color painted the surface, but after export glossy map still havn't color information. Contributor Malo Posted February 4, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 (edited) how look the spec map? is there the color? Edit: You have to be careful PBR glossy-spec is not the same as NonPBR glossy and spec. It makes no difference if you could import glossy spec, the shader have to read it correctly, too for PBR Textures. I dont have VRay nor did i work with the glossy-spec workflow. I always use metal-rough in Cycles. Edit2: Little image how it should looks. Left side is glossy-spec, right side is metal-rough. This is concrete with gold mateial. You see, in glossy-spec, the metal is black in the albedo map and gold in the glossy map and white in the spec map. Member wensk Posted February 4, 2015 Author Member Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 Ok, thank you Malo. I have repainted, the result is same with 3d-coat, the color information is stored in specular map, the glossy map only store reflection/blur information so it's black/gray/white. Contributor Malo Posted February 4, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 Then it looks like the export is wrong with the naming. Glossy should store the color not specular.
Carlosan
Reflection color tends to be neutral/white for insulators, and colored only for metals. Thus, a map specifically dedicated to reflectivity intensity/color (commonly called a specular map) may be dropped in favor of a metalness map. Contributor Malo Posted February 4, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted February 4, 2015 Maybe i am wrong, i only use metal/rough workflow.
