Advanced Member wailingmonkey Posted August 16, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 16, 2008 Hi Andrew, This is a nice feature in zbrush, namely the ability to 're-symmetrize' the model along an axis. (Zbrush actually allows for selected regions to get re-symmetry according to an axis choice and how one masks off the parts --- so you mask off the areas you want to keep unchanged, and the areas that aren't masked get mirrored symmetry.) I bet you're very involved in volumetric coding now, but perhaps you can consider how to implement this capability...I noticed while sculpting in the 2.10beta's that over time certain parts of the mesh would lose symmetry even though I was sculpting with x-axis symmetry on throughout the whole process. Anyhow, thanks for considering it!
Advanced Member rimasson Posted August 16, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 16, 2008 The topological Symetry tool should do the job, but i just tested it, and noticed 2 kind of bugs : when i symetrize a model sculpted with the pen tool, specular artefacts appear on the symetrized part when i symetrize a model sculpted with the sculpt tool (ie : draw with pen) the symetry is incorrect. Advanced Member wailingmonkey Posted August 16, 2008 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 16, 2008 thanks for reply, rimasson...unfortunately, that kinda screwed up my sculpt: (copied good side - red - to side that was loosing symmetry - blue - ) back in sculpt mode:
