Advanced Member worldcrafter Posted December 20, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted December 20, 2014 Hi i have an i7 4610M dual proscessor with 4 virtual cores. when 3dcoat is doing non multi-threaded tasks (which are many), it only uses 25% of cpu (the equivalent to one logical core) my question: is there a way i can sortoff get rid of 2 out of my 4 logical/virtual cores so i only have 2(real cores) left. (get rid of hyper-threading or something). My aim being to get 3DC using 50% cpu rather than 25%
Carlosan
This issue is related to Win7 technology: Cpu core parking What is core parking and should you adjust it? If you are an owner of a new multicore Intel CPU for example Intel core I7 and Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 OS, you already might notice that some of the cores in your resource monitor are marked as parked. This is a new feature of windows 7/2008 operating system that is made to balance energy consumption by your CPU. I tested this app to unpark my CPU, but backed to an old registry state because i dont feel ok the multitasking performance with the changes >>> *= USE this app at your OWN RISK =* <<< http://www.coderbag.com/programming-c/disable-cpu-core-parking-utility Warning: your are modifying the registry. Take care.

Contributor BeatKitano Posted December 23, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted December 23, 2014 will unparking make 3dc use 50% of my cpu? Why settle for 50%. Deactive all cores but one and go 100% !
