Member metrons Posted April 3, 2015 Member Report Share Posted April 3, 2015 I'm doing the scales of his uniform. I've tried nanomesh, <got me close results but way to much over lapping> I have seen people do sweaters and chain mail using zbrush. I think you have an obect and that replaces polygons with your chainmail shape? I'm really hoping someone can give me their thought on how to tackle these scales. Been a huge pain in my side. appreciate any info on how to do this cleanly With out over lapping. My next thought is to do a multi mesh of maybe 5 tiles, place them in patches and then alter with move tool aferwards? Looking for the best method. Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted April 3, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted April 3, 2015 Using Stencils, in CUBE MAPPING mode, might be the best way to approach it. Use the FREEZE brush/tool to apply a freeze-mask selection. Once you have brushed the freeze selection, if just the creases are selected, then hit the CTRL + SHIFT + I keyboard combination (same as in Photoshop, to invert a selection) to insure the scales themselves are frozen/masked. Why? Because we're going to switch to the VoxEtrude or VoxLayer tool and use that selection to create a new layer from it, or just extrude that selected area. Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted April 3, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted April 3, 2015 VoxLayer and VoxExtrude tools. Both work in either Voxel mode or Surface Mode.
