I have most probably by accident created some wild geometry while retopo. Didn't notice it until i started unwrapping. This geometry is not deletable. I cannot select it with any of the retopo tools. Even after deleting the face above this little tri. So it's not a problem that the tools selects the upper face first.

I have fixed the issue by exporting it and delete this little rascal in Blender now. Would be nevertheless interesting to know how to remove this unexpected geometry in 3D Coat. Any advice? :)

i create a new retopo group

Select all the faces -islands- that are ok

move it to the new retopo group

delete the retopo group with wrong faces

3DC dont let to select faces that are inside the mesh (covered by other faces), living the same nightmare once i didnt found a way.

I see, but as told, does not work. When i hide the group then the odd geometry is also hidden. It is part of the current retopo group, not a separate layer :)

Just in case you want to have a crack at it, here's the scene, around 50 Mb: http://www.reinerstilesets.de/ext/coat/retopo%20finishen.rar

That was it. Thanks Andrew :)

I tried that one before. What stopped me in the UV Window before is that i had to zoom in a lot now to get this geometry selectable. So i was under the impression that it is not selectable there at all.
