Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted September 8, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 8, 2013 (edited) http://i.imgur.com/R3hLt4q.jpg http://i.imgur.com/jXnXQRN.jpg I'm still down to only 650,000 surface triangles in voxels. My rig will take up to 22million so there's still plenty of room to go in voxels and then when i get into Live Clay I can strip away topology where it's superfluous and lay it down where it's needed. Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted September 9, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) Man, I had a bitch of a time attaching the hand with the fingers to the body. The hands kept disappearing. It might have had something to do with the way I drew in the fingers, each on its separate layer with Curve tool. I attached them to the palm and thumb section and blew away the skin shader then after a quick incremental backup tried it attaching it all to the body. Then I tried joining the hands with fingers to the body and sort of blew it all away. It took some resolution changes and resampling to make it all work. Backup backup backup always save your work. http://i.imgur.com/I4hDdOu.jpg Lots of work to do on the hands but I need to make something to eat then go to the gym. Oh yeah, and I discovered the joy of Curves today too..This is going to solve a lot of problems when it comes to placing in curvilinear masses of muscles on bones... Because frankly trying to sculpt long slender limbs with delicate sinuous muscles like on her arms is a bitch and a half...Hopefully curves is the answer. I mean the bones themselves are anything but recticlinear...they have their own complex shapes that imploy a whole series of difficult curvilinear and rectilinear changeups. http://i.imgur.com/NxoOdB9.jpg Edited September 9, 2013 by L'Ancien Regime
Member Ruth Spacecookie Andrews Posted September 9, 2013 Member Report Share Posted September 9, 2013 Seeing nice work in progress like this keeps me going and makes me feel I can do great stuff like this when I see the experimentation that you're doing. Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted September 9, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 9, 2013 (edited) I got up at 10:00 and worked on her hands for a couple hours. http://i.imgur.com/9k4UmPg.jpg http://i.imgur.com/K24i6bk.jpg So I'm currently around 3.5 million voxels at this point. This is as far as I care to take the details in voxels. I'll wait for Live Clay stage to go futher. Also, my Ctrl Z Undo isn't working I fiddled around with this but probably made things worse. How do I get infinite undo? http://i.imgur.com/4NjqAF6.jpg Edited September 9, 2013 by L'Ancien Regime
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 10, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted September 10, 2013 It looks like her thumb is too short. On my grizzled hand, the thumb reaches past the knuckle of my index finger.

Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted September 11, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) Learning a new tool often brings answers to problems that would otherwise involve clumsy solutions..the curve tool is excellent http://i.imgur.com/Jglh62T.jpg http://i.imgur.com/qXVEkPf.jpg Initially the tubes wouldn't fill, so I had to try resetting the scale and that allowed the curves to be filled with voxels properly And reworked the thumb and hand but it's all far from finished http://i.imgur.com/JoTIC2q.jpg http://i.imgur.com/E2Ovb6N.jpg Edited September 11, 2013 by L'Ancien Regime
Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted September 12, 2013 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 12, 2013 (edited) After wasting most of the day trying to get my render skills back I finally started moving towards finishign this model by looking into making her legs and feet. It seemed natural just to port my human skeleton into the scene to check out proportions etc. Hard to believe her arms are too short. http://i.imgur.com/fp0X3Vk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/4Xk7u9L.jpg However I suspect the skeleton is modeled on a man's in this specific case. Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 12, 2013 Contributor Report Share Posted September 12, 2013 Yeah, the rib cage and pelvis kind of give that away.
