Weird seams with cube mapping

Hello!

I am wondering if anyone has any answer to this.. When I use cube mapping with a tiling texture, I can get really sharp seams in the most strange places, not necessarily where the UV map is. It's an octopus and these weird seams and "bubbles" appear almost everywhere, around all the top and across all the limbs. I have doublechecked the texture, which is perfectly tiling and without artifacts, I have tried other tiling textures.

I like the idea of being able to make the base texture with cube mapping and then switch to camera projection to clean up a few details around the seams, but this is quite extreme. Including screenshot of what it looks like, the UVmap and a scaled down version of the seamless texture for reference.

Any help would be appreciated. :)
