Zproject brush analog?

in Zbrush I am accustomed to use zproject brush to project a photo plane  onto a dinamesh geometry. That way I get a source of very hi-res texture which I can  project any time later with any resolution.

So for example if I need to do a big stone wall texture I can open an image plane with a source photo in zbrush , compose geometry stones over it  and then subdivide original photo plane and zproject it over stones.

Can I work in 3dcoat within similar manner somehow?

Use a Stamp (or Stencil) using vertex painting with your sculpture.

So with your sculpture in the Sculpt Room open, go to the Paint Room, make a new layer, activate a Stamp, paint with the Brush tool. Don't forget the color you use modulates the color of the Stamp.

Thank you.  I think I understand what you offered. It's  more  of  projecting color on the sculpture itself . Problem is I want not to unwrap and paint the sculpture ( wall blocks) but rather transfer depth into a hi res flat photo plane ( for an environment texture).   The only way I see now is unwrap those wall blocks, color project on them into several  textures of its own materials  and then bake back into a huge hi res flat plane.   Is there any other solution without rebaking and unwrapping?
