Advanced Member Juan Carlos Montes Posted May 13, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 13, 2008 Hi i want to show the image a made for the cgsociety Uplift Universe challenge, hope you liked its a bit disturbing. I enter the challenge a bit late so I did a simple idea for the contest but am happy with the final result, I know can be better with more time. I use Xsi for the modeling, 3d coat for displace and color textures, Photoshop for colors adjusments and additional details like the Ice cream and final I pose the character and rendering in Carrara 6. Here is the link to the thread

Advanced Member geo_n Posted May 14, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 14, 2008 Very lifelike. Carrara rendering looks really good. Mind sharing what the different layers in 3dc have and a screen grab in carrara? Was the jacket textured in 3dc?

Andrew Shpagin
Wow Juan! so great! Yes, i have received several bugreports from you. Are they reproducable? Do you have sample object that chashes during export. Also, looking at this model I have Idea about 3dC advrtising - picture and label "3D-Coat is as easy to learn as icecream eating!" Can I use this image for advertising of that kind?
Advanced Member geo_n Posted May 14, 2008 Advanced Member Report Share Posted May 14, 2008 Thanks Juan Carlos. I have to say I'm impressed with your alien creatures. Even the wip is already good Can anyone tell me what the 2nd and 4th head image are for? I'm assuming the third image is the color channel. The first image is the sculpted detail in one layer? Advanced Member psyborgue Posted March 15, 2009 Advanced Member Report Share Posted March 15, 2009 Here is another recreation of the same illustration in blender . I definately like the blender version better. The SSS really adds an authentic touch. The Carrara version looks a bit too "plastic". I like the tattoos on the skin too. Very tribal.
