Contributor ajz3d Posted March 5, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 Whenever I work on objects that are roughly 1 metre in size, I get near camera clipping when framing smaller sub-objects (several centimetres). It shows up in all rooms and really gets on my nerves. I use centimetres as my working units in 3D Coat. Near plane modulator is set to 0.01, but tweaking it doesn't seem to affect anything. Is there anything I can do about it besides scaling the whole object hierarchy up (which I really want to avoid)?
Advanced Member polyxo Posted March 5, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 Switching the camera to parallel projection should help.
Contributor ajz3d Posted March 5, 2014 Author Contributor Report Share Posted March 5, 2014 I forgot to mention that there's also an issue with zoom-in limit which I tend to hit very frequently with smaller objects. Polyxo. Yeah, orthographic projection doesn't cause near clipping, but with it I'm unable to move the camera inside objects whenever I need to. So, it is a solution to my problem, but only partial. Carlosan
You can adjust the near clipping plane under Preferences / Viewport / Near plane modulator 1
