Way too much triangles when importing .FBX from Maya

I made this sofa in MayaLT and exported it with UV set and smoothing-groups.

But In 3D Coat it looks like this and has way to many triangles and 3D coat (DX64 version) goes really slow:

How can this be fixed?

You are in Voxel Mode.

Voxel works different. You model gets calculatet new with triangles.

What you did is the normal way how it works in Voxel Mode.

 

For your needs, you should start with Surfacemode.

In your import options, check import w/o voxelization.

That should bring in you model with you real polycount from maya.
