Is it worth it to upgrade Wacom Intuos 3 to 5?

I've been using an Intuos 3 medium tablet for several years now, and it still works fine, but I've lost my extra nibs and the surface area (replaceable, but expensive for just a small plastic sheet). Been pondering whether I should just upgrade to an Intuos 5 or save the cash and just buy some new nibs and sheet on ebay.

Anyone else have experience with both tablets and able to notice a tangible benefit between the two? I'm not that interested in the multi-touch or gestures capability. My main question would be if the 2048 levels of pressure sensitivity in 5 is even noticeable between the 1024 levels of the Intuos 3.

2048 or 1024 does not makes a big difference in Coat IMo...maybe Zb more. The extra express keys are always welcomed tough.

The thing with intuos4 /5 is the replacable wire....

I had to buy 2 Intuos3 because the wire broke (*Im really careless...) so in those days I would have bought an Intuos4 instead for sure. But I would say if you only need nibs and a sheet don't bother spending the money....especially if you kept your tablet in good condition.

Thanks, Artman, for that tip. I discovered that Wacom no longer sells the surface sheets, and they are very hard to find...even on EBay. One place in Australia is price gouging at $50 for the sheet. Not paying that. Will have to find some alternative, like some Mylar sheets or something. The Intuos 3 tablet I have already has 8 customizable buttons and 2 touch strips, so upgrading to a 5 doesn't seem to give me much added benefit. I think that is why Wacom stopped selling replacement parts for the Intuos3.

I have a Wacom Intuos 3. The sheet is still very good but an area is the middle was getting a little raggy so I covered the wacom sheet.

Used some stiff plastic like you get in binders. Also tested just some of the heavy iron on design paper that has a very firm plastic type front. Both work like a charm...

Mylar should work quite well, I would think...
