Brush alpha

I created a brush alpha of just some white lines on a black background, with a bit of gaussian blur. I'd like to use it to paint lines on an object, but I get these strange crossing lines /striations currently running across my painted lines

Anyone any tips to get rid of these?
Thanks,
T

That looks like possible antialiasing artefact issues with your alpha, which I've had with very fine scratch alphas or even textures used in smart materials. It could be your texture map setup is too low a resolution for the alpha's "daintiness", and you might want to try and modify the original alpha artwork so that it's 'chunkier', and reimport it.
