Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 2, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted September 2, 2015 I created a material with this image and it's grey scale companion: I have tried every projection and Cylindrical seems to work best but nothing comes close to the image even fiddling with the Settings. Any suggestions would be welcome.
Javis
Hey Tony! Do you have a seamless companion for that image?
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 3, 2015 Author Contributor Report Share Posted September 3, 2015 No but it will only be visible from a small angle and I thought I could fudge any seams that might be visible.
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 4, 2015 Author Contributor Report Share Posted September 4, 2015 How one can get an image on to an object is no easy matter. The "Settings" for cylindrical mapping at no point in the Preview correspond to the image. This is possible in C4D Bodypaint (how many have used such mapping to paint a face?) but not with displacement as one can do in 3DC. This is useless of course. The image of bark shown above should wrap around a cylinder (I don't care about seams) but what one gets is unrecognizable.
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 4, 2015 Author Contributor Report Share Posted September 4, 2015 (edited) This is a simple cylinder. It's not perfect but much better nevertheless. The software seems to straiten all the elements vertically. Edited September 4, 2015 by Tony Nemo
Contributor Michaelgdrs Posted September 5, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted September 5, 2015 I believe its a scale issue. Try to scale it from the general transform tab once you click on the image , the one that pops right away. Hit reset and then use the magnifier
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 5, 2015 Author Contributor Report Share Posted September 5, 2015 That is the right tract but it reverts when you start to paint. It's very buggy and I'm going to fiddle some more so as to give a coherent account on Mantis.
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 5, 2015 Author Contributor Report Share Posted September 5, 2015 Is there still an alternative to PBR that I could use to put bark on this object?
Advanced Member Ballistic_Tension Posted September 11, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 11, 2015 If you already have your image loaded in as a pbr material then try using the Paint Bucket on your mesh and turn off use albedo tolerance in the pop up . it should copy it on both side in 1 shot worth a try it works in some situations. Contributor Tony Nemo Posted September 11, 2015 Author Contributor Report Share Posted September 11, 2015 Thanks for the tip. Javis stepped in with a working solution using a PBR that he made. I was able to use the paint brush but the bucket would have been faster.
