Advanced Member Grimm Posted April 14, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted April 14, 2015 Ram disks are nice if you have the extra memory to spare. I first used one on my Amiga and it was really nice, especially when all you had for storage was floppy disks. But once I bought a hard drive I dropped the ram disk because the memory was far more useful for applications. Not to mention that memory was hard to get in those days. These days I just use an SSD and call it good. Although a ram disk would be faster, the only issue is the time it takes to load it initially. Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted April 14, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted April 14, 2015 Yeah...after I upgraded to 32 GB, I thought about using AMD RAMdisk, which was a software utility that came with the AMD RAM sticks I bought. It basically uses the designated portion of your memory as a HD. I decided not to use it. I just bought an SSD drive to use, instead.
