"cage" based texture baker + alphas support

1.Would be nice to have " cage" or "envelope" options in texture baker.   One that allow to set precisely the direction of baking rays, not only along surface normals.

 

2,  An ability to bake materials with alphas correctly. So if high poly has some grass, leafs or other details with alpha they would be baked into target surface  with alphas being correctly added to each other

About #1, Andrew said something about future possibility of painting scan depth with a brush, but this was in January and he didn't mention it ever again.

I'm not sure how painting scan depth would compare to setting up cages, but it sure would be better than influence spheres. I went through a nightmare of setting up literally dozens of them (because scan depths cannot be set per object or uv-set) in a couple of sculpts, so I know what I'm talking about. Not fun. ;)
