Advanced Member Nossgrr Posted August 27, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 Well even if we get half of the advertised speed increase, it'd be amazing! There talking 10x times faster, not percentages. http://wccftech.com/nvidia-pascal-gpu-gtc-2015/ They're going to be using the new HBM (3D Memory) like in the new AMD cards, NVidia NVLink to replace the PCI express bus it seems.. That's a huge leap in performance <- again, if it pans out. The other thing I'd like to know is 10x faster than what? They mention current gen Titan in the article but I'll have to do more reading on it. What do you guys think? They're slated for 2016, my GeForce 770GTX has to hold until these come out...
Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted August 27, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 27, 2015 (edited) Those things will usher in a revolution when they turn up in automobiles as the AI processor for self driving cars. and then there's this; dirt cheap http://wccftech.com/amd-radeon-r9-nano-unleashed-649-fastest-miniitx-card-full-fiji-gpu-4-gb-hbm-performance-faster-gtx-980/ Edited August 27, 2015 by L'Ancien Regime
PolyHertz
Correction, they're using HBM2 which is even faster then the current HBM used in newer AMD cards. Also, they're not saying the GPU as a whole will be 10x faster, just that 16bit float operations will be (theoretically). Though I'm sure it'll be a great card (what with the new memory and die shrink), don't overhype yourself. Advanced Member L'Ancien Regime Posted August 28, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 28, 2015 That and price.. I have a feeling this wont be cheap. I'm expecting them to hold to the Titan level price point of $1000.
