Member Delaney Posted February 6, 2009 Member Report Share Posted February 6, 2009 So I have a few 3D printers at work and thought it'd be neat to try a hand at voxel sculpting. I did this in about 3-4 hours including learning 3d coat so probably could go faster. I'll let you know how it looks in 12 hours (4 in. tall). Its on our lowest res printer (0.007 step) but voxel modelling with 3d coat is the EASIEST way to make water tight models I've ever seen, its amazing. If it does work I'm going to throw a lot more at it. This is a decent test of how much resolution I can throw at the printer with an organic surface. I have a few suggestions for workflow enhancements, should I make a big long post in Interface or in Voxel Sculpting Development?
Andrew Shpagin
Hi! Nice looking wizard! Interesting to see printed result! Yes, it is better to post suppose in Voxel Sculpting Development Btw, there is spacial helper for economy of material (and speed up) during printing - making hulls VoxTree->RMB->Extract surface->Make hull using voxels

Member Delaney Posted March 16, 2009 Author Member Report Share Posted March 16, 2009 Finally got some time on the machine. Haven't got the support junk off the pieces completely but you get the idea. First one is a one inch test but the base broke off, the other is 6 inches and really strong.
