Contributor Tony Nemo Posted July 15, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted July 15, 2015 For the present, better lighting for your model should precede more detail in an ill lighted model.
Contributor ajz3d Posted July 15, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted July 15, 2015 I agree, the lighting is a little bit on the dull-side. It doesn't emphasize the details. I'd also reduce the amount of wear-and-tear on the robot and introduce slightly more variations of colour. It looks like he had seen better times. Of course I don't know the setting this robot is going to work in (postapocalyptical maybe?), so you can ignore this line completely. Anyway, that's a very nice model. Good show! Did you do the tracks in 3D-Coat?
Advanced Member blade33ru Posted July 15, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) yeah i think its suffering from my discovery of the dirt surface material lol...plus its so slow now i cant work interactively in render so i guess ill have to retopo. the habitat will be fukushima, the robots there are kind of similar to this. ive been thinking about a series of robots who get get progressively sicker looking, but im not very good with characterization so..well see how far i get curve tool on the tracks with a modified square as the base form,,,very easy to create and symmetried instances for everything to make it easy...i was worried about the tracks and ended up doing them in like 5 minutes..also i discovered radial symmetry works with the primitive tool for the wheel insets...amazing! thanks for the crits Edited July 15, 2015 by blade33ru
Contributor ajz3d Posted July 15, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted July 15, 2015 (edited) I guess for Fukushima the wear and tear is perfect. But, if it's Fukushima, then why the robot is holding something that looks like an artillery shell? Or maybe it's a radioactive canister of some sort?
