Member Rebelismo Posted August 15, 2015 Member Report Share Posted August 15, 2015 https://vimeo.com/136133189 Hello Everyone! I just wanted to share this video of iRay integration within Substance Designer (5.3). If you're familiar with gpu ray tracers, you know they bring a lot to the table and they're fantastic for people who work on film, commercials, arch viz etc. I tend to use a lot of texturing packages, but there is still a huge difference between a marmoset toolbag type preview and a path tracer viewport. So for those people who are into renderers like Octane, this seems to be the first step in that direction. What are the advantages of a path tracer? If you've worked with various renderers vs game engines, you already know the major differences. It's mostly about realistic reflections, shadows, and bounced light. The better the preview, the more time it saves you later on. Also great for stills

Advanced Member vidi Posted September 17, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted September 17, 2015 (edited) If you have not SD , you can use DAZ Studio for Rendering. It has the iRay Render on Board and is Free. Edited September 17, 2015 by vidi

Yes I'm aware of that. But like Substance Designer recognizes integration of Iray to people wanting to have Iray as their target renderer is a must in the application you are using to CREATE your textures. It would be a BIG PLUS to people that create textures using 3D Coat for applications that render with Iray.
Contributor ajz3d Posted October 2, 2015 Contributor Report Share Posted October 2, 2015 (edited) Well, I believe SD 5.3 with iRay was released today. Vidi said that DAZ Studio utilizes this renderer too. Perhaps it would be possible for 3DC to pick-up this trend...?
