Member dragon Posted April 15, 2014 Member Report Share Posted April 15, 2014 Hello! Is it possible to export multiple UV maps out of 3D-Coat? I can export them as tiles, but I need different maps.
Javis
Unfortunately not. I'm trying hard to standardized support for multiple UV maps I/O and standardized UV tile support I/O supported in 4.2. If this is something you want let us know in this thread. I'll probably start a Mantis request for this if enough people want it (I know I do).
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted April 16, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted April 16, 2014 I'm confused here: If I can have separate maps for different objects of a collection of parts, in the Retopo room, what happens to them when I merge them to the Paint room? Contributor Malo Posted April 16, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted April 16, 2014 (edited) I use often two or more maps for one object. After the export i get 2 or more diffuse maps, specular maps, normalmaps and stuff like that, depending on how much maps i setup in the Retopo/UV Room. Maybe there is a missunderstanding on my side, but I think the export works as it should. Edited April 16, 2014 by Malo
Contributor Tony Nemo Posted April 17, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted April 17, 2014 (edited) Okay, I just completed another retopo for a new retopo group and when I unwrapped it, it was on the same UV preview as the first one. So apparently, different UV Groups don't translate into different UV Maps. ***************************************************************************************************** Now I get it! Create a new UV map from the 'Default' drop down list and select the UVs you want to move on to the newly created UV Map and use the "Move Select" drop down list to get at your new map. Contributor Tony Nemo Posted April 18, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted April 18, 2014 I did notice that when working in a new UV Map, if you erase a mistake with Ctrl-Z, it reverts immediately to the default UV Map. Minor but confusing to my ancient grey cells.
