Advanced Member arumiat Posted July 4, 2015 Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 4, 2015 The split tool is giving me odd results all of a sudden, - there is too much & irregular overlap. I've tried changing the border width in the tool options but it has no benefit. How can I make it so that the split occurs exactly where I draw, or leaves a very small overlap? Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 4, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 4, 2015 Adjust the SPLIT BORDER WIDTH parameter in the Tool bar ...before you make the split
Advanced Member arumiat Posted July 4, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 4, 2015 Nice thank you, I was looking under the 'E' set of tools. Obvious once you see it.
Advanced Member arumiat Posted July 4, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 4, 2015 Although it doesn't seem to work well at the moment. At 0 it will split exactly, however setting even the small border width possible gives the same issue
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 5, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 5, 2015 A small amount still means you want some overlap. ...and that piece might be incredibly small, so it's all relative.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 5, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 5, 2015 It might be something Andrew needs to look at, but it's hard to tell from just that small section of the UI.
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 5, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 5, 2015 After doing a little testing, I was able to confirm that your finding is indeed a bug/problem, just as you described. Needs a Mantis report and it should include that there is a duplicate copy of the Split Border's parameter in the Tool Bar when the user is in Surface mode. What's more is, in Surface mode, there is no overlap, so having the Split Border Width parameter is like an all electric car with a gas tank installed...what's the purpose? Advanced Member arumiat Posted July 5, 2015 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted July 5, 2015 Filed a Mantis report here, including about your mention of presence of split border option in Surface mode
Reputable Contributor AbnRanger Posted July 5, 2015 Reputable Contributor Report Share Posted July 5, 2015 Thanks. BTW, it doesn't overlap in Surface mode...and that's what you want. So, try using the tool in Surface mode, for now. I think it should be usuable in Surface mode, too...but it's just that the Split Border Width parameter doesn't do anything. Therefore the parameter shouldn't be available for Surface mode if Andrew doesn't want it to overlap like Voxel mode.
