Taros
My collegue is programming an HLSL shader for 3D Coat. The shader code changes will only be refreshed after a restart of 3D Coat (3.7.17A). Is there a way to refresh shader code changes on the fly - without restarting 3D Coat? Thank you Chris
Advanced Member 3DArtist Posted August 20, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2012 For PC: Ctrl + Alt + Shift + Q The shader, I believe must compile successfully initially when 3DC opens. But after that, if an error in the HLSL occurs, the object will disappear until it is fixed.
Taros
Thank you. Is there an official doc about shader programming inside 3DC?
Advanced Member 3DArtist Posted August 20, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2012 Unfortunately non that I know of. What little I've learned was from other shaders and bits and pieces throughout the forum. It would be nice to have a pinned thread for shader tips though. Contributor BeatKitano Posted August 20, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted August 20, 2012 I agree, I stumbled ontoJake_H shaders the other day (very nice eyes shaders, it helps a lot here). It would be cool if some shader guru's were to write some shaders for 3dcoat. But for that a bit more informations on the inner working of the shaders are needed.
Advanced Member 3DArtist Posted August 20, 2012 Advanced Member Report Share Posted August 20, 2012 I'm not a shader guru but I made a few shaders a little while ago (here) There are others scattered in the exchange section of the forums. Maybe the webmaster could create a central shader exchange similar to zbrush's. A thumbnail of the shader ball, example object, description and link to download. Also, it would be nice if the paint room could be opened up more for custom shaders. It's beyond me if it's possible in the current shader model of the paint room, but parallax mapping could be nice. Anyway, thanks for linking the eye shaders.
Contributor BeatKitano Posted August 21, 2012 Contributor Report Share Posted August 21, 2012 There's already something like what you suggest (but it doesn't work a per shader display, more like packs)
