Start your line just a little... release the pen or mouse button Hold down the Ctrl key, hover over the last point till you get the white ball. Start pulling out and when you have the point in the desire location then click or press your pen to the tablet. Release mouse button or hover over your tablet if you use a pen. and pull again. Rinse and repeat. This is a lot more precise than trying to draw freehanded. A soft spline will run though the line if you have it selected in the top tool bar.
