I've been posting on here for quite a while now, but my interest in this program has always been more of an appreciation of a specific task done very well, rather than any commercial use or even that I draw that much.

I'd never consider myself an 'artist' but I do dabble and I've tried sculpting a few things to no great success. Recently some tasty Duke Nukem concepts have been released and they inspired me to have another go. Here's what I came up with in 2x20min sessions (before work :D ) starting with the Silo base man, chopping his body off and then just freestyling until something monster-like came out :pardon:

Thanks to tree321 for inspiring me to persevere (I did all the boney detail parts this morning) and pointing out the 'extrude' brush which I'd overlooked. I think when detailing clicked for me is when I told myself - "stop getting too close" - up until that point I was looking at individual triangles and the shading didn't seem right so I thought I was doing things wrong.

BTW I know this sculpt isn't going to set the world on fire - I'm posting more because it was so much fun making this! At this speed you can get an idea out of your mind and onto the screen before you have time to lose interest or focus. A definite plus for someone without concept art to work from!

+1 sale when 3.0 officially comes out :drinks:

Cool that's a wild beast of a thing :) needs some more light, i'm finding it hard to see the details so i can fully appreciate what you've created there, see "trees" thread for an example of what i'm talking about, probably just needs one light to the front left :)

Anyways your miles ahead of me, i've yet to create anything of note, But I Will :)

David, I'm glad your moving forward with your creative expressions.I think art should be fun. It's easy to get caught up in the details and technicalities of creation

but always remind yourself to enjoy the process of creation itself. And please keep posting your work. I think it's important to share our work with others and help each other grow as artists.

Keep imagining,

Rick
