Advanced Member alvordr Posted February 15, 2014 Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 15, 2014 Anyone know where I can buy a Maya 2012 commercial license + download legally? All I can find is either training materials and not the product, or academic licenses, or illegal/scam-oriented sources. Thanks.
Carlosan
2014 http://www.autodesk.com/store/maya?mktvar004=ilt_wwm_amer_us_nc__hero_maya_rental2014___ It is possible to have 2 different versions on one PC. Only thing is you will need to Uninstall your 2014, Install 2012 and re-install 2014. If 2012 was allready on the PC it wouldnt have been a problem. But you basically need to install the earlier version first before installing the later version. please FIRST ask AUTODESK helpdesk to ask if any police had changed with the new rental services schema. Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted February 16, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted February 16, 2014 I think you can't use older versions of Maya if you are renting. Only if you are on subscription you are allowed to use older versions. There is a PDF FAQ somewhere on the Autodesk site explaining the limitations of renting. Carlosan
Right he need to follow the link for: Perpetual Licenses Perpetual licenses are ideal for individuals or small offices requiring only a few individuals to access and use Autodesk products. These licenses let you use your version of software for as long as you want, and do not require network connectivity to run.
Contributor TimmyZDesign Posted February 16, 2014 Contributor Report Share Posted February 16, 2014 Oh and Motion Media probably sells Maya. That's where I buy my software. They have great customer service. You would have to buy Maya 2014, then (like Carlosa said) using your 2014 license go to Autodesk and download 2012. A couple years back I had 2010, 2011, and 2012 on my computer at the same time, and they all ran fine.
Advanced Member alvordr Posted February 16, 2014 Author Advanced Member Report Share Posted February 16, 2014 (edited) I don't rent anything from Autodesk and never will. This is why I was asking about buying Maya 2012. I have 2011 perpetual license now. If this is a dead-end, so be it. I don't rent anything from Adobe either. Motion Media would have been a good source, but they don't appear to sell 2012. Edited February 16, 2014 by alvordr
