Same Xeon E5450 dual quad core Harpertowns,

New Tyan Tempest I5400PW mobo to replace the one I burned out

and now...64 gigs of ddr 2 ECC fully buffered 16 * 4gb RAM

Samsung 580 Pro SSD 256 gigs.

Nvidia 560Ti 2gb ddr 5 ram

This is just an interim stopgap upgrade while everything falls into place for my next rig with ddr 4 ram

:)

Having trouble installing Windows 7 though  :(

aha; problem solved.

1)      On the same error screen press SHIFT+F10 and it will open up a black Window. (a command prompt window)

2)       In  the black windows type the word "regedit"(without the inverted commas and hit enter. That will open the registry editor.

        In the Registry Editor..

                Browse to....

HKLocal machine/SYSTEM/SETUP/STATUS/ChildCompletion, and after highliting childcompletion,on the right hand side check for setup.exe. if the value is 1 change it to 3.(by double clicking on setup.exe and changing the value shown in the box).

Then close the registry editor and then also close the black window.

Then click on OK for the error and the computer will restart and the installation may complete.  just try it and let me know if it worked.

Will get back to let  you know how many gajillion voxels and polygons this will handle once I get 3d Coat 17 or 18 loaded.. :D

When I had 8 gigs of RAM and a regular HD it did it in 23 minutes

We'll see what it can do  it in now..

Well it's not perfect...trying to resurrect an ancient ddr2 server was and is a challenge but I've partly won.

It wouldn't take my Win7 Pro but we shall see. Right now I'm running Windows Server 2012 on the 180 trial.

And I don't have all 64 gigs of RAM...both the BIOS and the OS are showing only 48 gigs but hey that's still plenty eh?

Check it out; 62,040,536 triangles and still functional..

CINEBENCH!

Yes I'll do that but I doubt if I'll do much better than 23 minutes with these two Harpertown Xeons.

The annoying thin in 3d coat is that when i try to load up a 1.04 gig obj it runs out of memory! and demands I assign more virutal memory on the CPU! WTF. Is there some kind of weird limitation on what you can load in 3d coat?

23 minutes?

cinebench R15, you should get a score in the thousands (arbitrary points)

Sorry. I was thinking of  Benchwell..

And the benchwell image was made and painted in 3d coat!
